Position Summary
Slippery Rock University’s PA program in the Department of Healthcare and Administration seeks a dynamic, self-motivated, full-time, tenure track faculty member with excellent written and interpersonal skills to be part of the PA program team. The position is anticipated to begin in Fall 2025. The curriculum focuses on traditional training for future Physician Assistants with an emphasis on caring for special populations. As a principal faculty member, the individual will be expected to participate in the development, implementation, and assessment of the Physician Assistant program curriculum; developing, delivering, and assessing objective-driven course material; representing the PA program at professional functions; applicant recruitment; securing and maintaining clinical sites; student advising; and ARC-PA accreditation. The program is looking for a team member who is interested in working with peer faculty members to help continued growth of the SRU PA Program. This position may require clinical site visits and maintaining good relationships within the local community and clinical facilities. The position may involve classroom, laboratory-based instruction, and clinical year requirements. Scholarly activity, University/Program service, and professional organization involvement will be required. Continued clinical work or research will be encouraged.
Minimum Qualifications
Applications must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Allopathic or Osteopathic program. Applicant must hold NCCPA, AANPCB, or ABMS certification or its equivalent, be eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania and have at least three years of clinical experience as a practicing health care provider. Successful performance in an on-campus interview that includes a teaching demonstration, as well as a commitment to the education of diverse populations are required. Experience with Microsoft products.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include being an Advanced Practice Provider with experience in Physician Assistant education, assessment and accreditation in the classroom or clinical setting. Other preferred qualifications include: experience with clinical preceptorships, teaching clinical skills, pharmacology, history and physical examination, developing simulated patient cases, and active involvement in the regional healthcare community are preferred. Preference will also be given to those with five or more years of clinical experience as a practicing health care provider.
